Hey I'm Justin, a designer based in the Bay Area.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
I grew up in an environment where pursuing my passions was encouraged. The rule was simple: so long as what I wanted to do was productive, my folks would help me. When I was 9, I decided I wanted to learn guitar. That day, my dad bought me my first guitar, a fiesta red Squier Stratocaster. I've played guitar every day since.
Pursuing music requires more than being a musician, you're your own business manager, accountant, and marketing department. That's how I discovered design.
After deciding I wanted to be home more, I stopped touring and took a graphic design job at a music instrument manufacturer. While there, I discovered UI/UX and product design, and began understanding the under-appreciated work behind the digital products we use every day.
I've always loved problem solving. What I love about songwriting is exactly that. It's fundamentally an exercise in problem solving with many correct answers, but correct answers nonetheless. Design works the same way. Good design goes unnoticed, but the problem solving required to get there, is endlessly fascinating to me. I strive to create things so useful and well designed that people never even consider the work that went into them.
